COVID-19 has taken this nation by storm and the last thing on most people’s minds is the 2020 election. Yet, Bellwether Blues goes beyond 2020 by sharing truths which are far more transcendent than any one candidate or any single election. Through the stories of seven millennials in Wood County, this book unlocks principles which have established America’s foundation for centuries.

Times like these bring to the surface the most important things in life. Too often the balance of our bank account is that which most defines us. But, as we spend time in our homes to defeat this pandemic, there is another currency which can be earned, that of relationship with our loved ones.

I grew up in NW Ohio and experienced both the upper-middle class and the lower-middle class. When my Dad went from physical therapy to pastoral ministry, our income level took a major nose-dive. Although we qualified for free & reduced lunches, not once did we feel poor.

While income is often used as the variable which defines poverty, the wealthiest among us are usually not the economically wealthy. The wealthiest are people who are rich in family, faith, and freedom. In my life, having a loving family who taught the Bible preserved my sense of worth even in the midst of lack.

Bellwether Blues was written to advance principles which will make the Conservative movement a lasting one. Economics matter. But, absent principles economics becomes hollow. The seven millennials in this book undergird this self-evident truth. Conservatives would do well to heed their life-stories. A bellwether movement will follow.
